Digital Sovereignty
Your emails and documents belong to you – and so does the search across them. With Lookeen, the index, text recognition and AI stay in your own infrastructure. No forced cloud, no dependency on a platform vendor.
Why it matters
Control over data
Whoever indexes your content knows your organization. That index should live where you control it.
Independence
APIs and terms of big platforms change. A search that runs in-house keeps working.
Accountability
Data protection and information security require that you know – and can prove – where data is processed.
How everything stays with you
Index on your drives
Lookeen Server is installed as a Windows service in your network. The search index and configuration live on your own drives and can be protected with BitLocker or hardware encryption.
No access by the vendor
Indexed content never leaves your environment, and Lookeen GmbH has no access to it. The optional version check only sends version data and can be turned off.
AI with local models
Lookeen AI works with locally hosted language models. Summaries, reviews and draft replies are produced inside your infrastructure.
Text recognition in-house
Scanned documents become searchable with local OCR (Tesseract) – no upload to a cloud service.
Your identities, your rights
Sign-in and permissions come from your Active Directory. Passwords are never stored in Lookeen.
On single workstations too
Lookeen Desktop (On-Prem) is available on request and sends no data externally at all – not even for license activation.
Trust you can verify
- A vendor based in Germany: Lookeen GmbH is headquartered in Karlsruhe.
- Documentation for your ISMS: An architecture overview, data flow diagram and a mapping to the ISO/IEC 27001 Annex A controls are available on request.
- No training data: Your content is never used to train AI models.
- Sources on your own network: File servers, Exchange Server and PST archives are indexed directly – no cloud account needed.
